Surgical Services
Obstetrics- The typical surgical services are available for our pregnant patients. Cesarian delivery when indicated, cervical cerclage, repair of vaginal tears following delivery, post-partum tubal ligations are performed by experienced board- certified or board eligible physicians.
Day Surgery- at Presbyterian or Lovelace Downtown Day Surgical Units, we can perform laparoscopic or hysteroscopic (Essure procedure), tubal sterilization procedures, hysteroscopic D & C, removal of fibroid tumors, vaginal or vulvar cysts, laser of vulvar and vaginal condyloma, labial revision, incontinence procedures, treatment of endometriosis and pelvic pain and endometrial ablation procedures to treat heavy periods.
Minimally Invasive Pelvic Floor Prolapse and Urinary Incontinence Surgery- Many 35-85 year old women who have had one or more vaginal deliveries experience the sensation that their vagina, bladder, uterus or rectum are “falling out”. This uncomfortable feeling can be accompanied by uncontrolled loss of urine when the patient coughs, sneezes, laughs or stands. The older surgeries for this problem either did not provide long lasting results or were associated with long recoveries and significant post operative pain. Now, we can perform repairs of severe vaginal floor defects utilizing synthetic and biologic mesh materials without the need of skin incisions or general anesthesia.
Laparoscopic Assisted Vaginal Hysterectomy with or without removal of the ovaries- This converts a hysterectomy from a 3 day hospital stay and 6 week recovery to a 1 day hospital stay and a 2-3 week recovery.
Abdominal or Vaginal Hysterectomy- with or without pelvic floor repair and incontinence surgery when needed.
